September On the weekend of 9th and 10th September, EICH Ireland opened its doors to a brand new group of students - many thanks to you all for choosing to study with us! We are now preparing for our FOURTH module already - it really is flying. We’re taking applications for guest speakers to come along to chat for a day in either Module 5, 6, 7 or 8. Please get in touch if you’re a hypnotherapist who would be interested in talking about a subject you are passionate about. At the end of the month, the students of 2016-2017 had their graduation evening which was so much fun! We started by meeting up at Breaffy House to take a few photos with their certificates, and then we headed to the House of Plates, Castlebar, for a gorgeous dinner. I am so proud of each and every one of them who are now Clinical Hypnotherapists, with two diplomas from EICH Ireland. You can find out more about each of them on our Graduates page. Well done to you all! October I went to London for the annual Hypnosense Live! Conference, in association with the APHP. It was an inspiring weekend with many other like-minded therapists in the Amba Hotel, Marble Arch, featuring therapists speaking about fast techniques, misophonia, Tourettes, menopause, Milton Erickson, amongst other topics, and Terence Watts delivered The You Protocol, which is available to study online in a 90-minute webinar. We also had the pleasure of the company of Paul Martin, an amazing magician who was our Saturday evening's dinner entertainment! More pictures can be found on our Facebook page.
Over the past few months, we have been accepted onto more Professional Registers, further enhancing the credibility of our course. We are now accredited or recognised by no less than EIGHT leading registers: The APHP, the NRPC (which gives you 'fast-track' entry onto the CNHC), the IHR, the CHPA, the GHSC, the CRSST, the AHSM, and the UKCHO. Find out what they all mean here. We are now taking applications/deposits for our third course which commences in September 2018. This is a great time to enrol and get organised, as it’ll be here before we know it. All information can be found on our website; or you can get in touch here, or via our Contact Form to find out more. It is a 10 month course, one weekend a month, and we offer a payment plan, as well as the option to pay in full. Upon successful completion, you will have all the tools, knowledge, and confidence you need to be able to set up as a Clinical Hypnotherapist, or to add this invaluable skill to an existing career. We look forward to hearing from new aspiring hypnotherapists! If you need a little inspiration, check out some of our reviews from our Facebook page: As well as being a hypnotherapy trainer, I see clients one-to-one in my practice in Kachina, Castlebar, Co Mayo. Head over to my therapy website to find out how I can help with issues such as stress, anxiety, confidence, self-esteem, smoking cessation, habits, fears, phobias, weight management and so much more, using a range of therapies including hypnotherapy (of course), BWRT, EFT, and more. That’s all for now - until next time!
Laura McDonald, Principal, EICH Ireland We are now just THREE weeks away from our next Professional Practitioner Hypnotherapy Diploma course and we are looking for three more enthusiastic, curious, excited new students to complete our group! Our last students have added to the fantastic reputation of EICH, having recently found out that they ALL passed their final exam! They are now Clinical Hypnotherapists, offering help with issues such as stress, anxiety, fears, phobias, smoking cessation and more, as well as possessing skills for life which they will pass on to their clients. You can find out about them on our Graduates page here, and they are located in Dublin, Galway, and Mayo. I love the following quote: There is an old saying; “If you give a man a fish, you have given him a meal. If you teach him how to fish, you have given him a livelihood. Teaching those who you work with is a means for ensuring that your clients can continue to work independently and grow in your absence.” (Michael Yapko, 1990) ...and it is so true. By using hypnosis to help your clients, you are giving them tools they can use in practically any area of their life, for the rest of their life - how wonderfully empowering is that? If you'd like to find out more about this 10 month, one weekend a month course held in Castlebar, Co Mayo, please feel free to get in touch and we will answer any questions you might have! You can of course apply directly here, and a 10% deposit will secure your place, also payable on the website. Alternatively, we can send you our bank details if this is your preferred method.
I spoke about my pride in running EICH Ireland in the Association for Professional Hypnosis and Psychotherapy Journal's August 2017 issue, as well as about my private practice. The APHP is a professional body whose members show that they meet certain criteria governing their training, expertise, insurance, supervision and Continual Professional Development, and graduates of EICH Ireland meet these criteria to join as APHP members.
![]() Every so often, I share books that you might find helpful, whether it’s to read alongside your EICH Hypnotherapy studies, or if it’s for personal development. I’ll start with a few of my old favourites that I read many years ago and that I go back to from time to time. Click on the book image or title to find out more. Candace Pert - Molecules of Emotion - was recommended to me by an old friend/hairdresser of mine and my Mum’s, Lucinda Ellery. It’s a beautifully written book about how we feel the way we feel, and offers insight into the workings of the human body and mind. A book I found absolutely wonderful is It’s the Thought That Counts, by Dr David Hamilton. This was so easy to read, which is important for me as I can get easily get lost if I lose interest! Dr Hamilton writes about evidence of the power of mind over matter. The Celestine Prophecy by James Redfield was a book I read in my twenties and it changed the way I think. The Book Depository says ‘You have never read a book like this before...The Celestine Prophecy contains secrets that are currently changing our world. Drawing on the ancient wisdom found in a Peruvian manuscript, it tells you how to make connections between the events happening in your own life right now...and lets you see what is going to happen to you in the years to come.’ I am a huge fan of Khaled Hosseini. I read A Thousand Splendid Suns while on a Mediterranean cruise in 2011. ‘Love can move a person to act in unexpected ways, and lead them to overcome the most daunting obstacles with a startling heroism.’ In June 2016, I signed on the dotted line with EICH Ltd in the UK, to teach Terence Watts' Professional Practitioner Diploma course. By September, I had 7 students signed up, and I was a complete mix of nerves and excitement as I walked into the venue for the very first day of teaching. I sat in the room waiting for them to arrive, and I still remember the order in which they arrived and what they all said. Fast forward just over a year, and we’ve now finished all 10 modules, all 20 days of teaching, all homework assignments, and all exams. Now, we sit and wait for the exams to be marked! I would like to thank each and every student of mine for choosing to study with me, over the other hypnotherapy courses available in Ireland. I learnt a lot from you all - your stories, your wisdom, the memories and the friendships you made with each other were all just lovely. I am now doing the very same thing as I was doing last year - busy promoting my next course, due to start in September, and wondering who will be joining me this time to become a Clinical Hypnotherapist. The week after the last module of the Professional Practitioner Course, I returned to the venue to teach the very first and only BWRT® Training available in Ireland. It was a great success and students were fascinated to add this skill to their work. To find out more, head over to our website here where you can find out about training and also about one-to-one appointments. You can get help for anxiety, stress, confidence, PTSD and so much more. Keep checking in on our website to see photos of our upcoming graduation in September, and to find out more about our newly qualified Clinical Hypnotherapists - we will be adding their names next month! Will your name be on our Graduates page one day….? In January, we held Module 5 of our Professional Practitioner Course, which was also half-way through our studies. The students took their mid-course evaluations, returning them to me in Module 6, and each one of them did extremely well. On Saturday 4th March, I was delighted to present the students with their certificates. They are now entitled to call themselves 'Certified Hypnotherapist' and use the letters 'Cert. H' after their names.
In June, it will be our 10th and last module, and exam time again... but this time, upon successful completion, students will receive TWO diplomas - one in Hypnotherapy with Psychotherapy, and one in Hypnoanalysis. Our course is a highly interactive and practical one. This weekend in particular saw some big shifts within many of our students as they practiced even deeper hypnotherapy with each other. Students don't only come away with qualifications; they take a journey of self-discovery, self-development, and make some very rewarding connections with new friends. If this sounds like something you'd like to do, or need to do, please do get in touch. |
